Welcome that springtime sun! March 30 is National Walk in the Park Day. At Out of the Box Events, we love giving you all a good reason to get active. Chasing scavenger hunt clues through Los Angeles’s neighborhoods, you may clock a couple miles on your pedometers — and our event staff clocks a couple more checking up on you as you play through your hunt. Many of our hunts take place outside, so while you’re searching for fantastic bits of street art or learning about LA’s most interesting historical landmarks, you have a chance to admire the gardens and sea views that are the backgrounds of our clues.
Walking provides myriad health benefits. Regular exercise decreases the chance of heart disease, diabetes, cancer, increases bone density and decreases blood pressure. Take a walk through your neighborhood and your body will feel better; join us on a hunt to improve both body and mind!
We’d like to challenge you to take a walk this National Walk in the Park Day. Los Angeles is full of green space to enjoy. If you take a walk, bring your camera with you — send us your favorite walking photo and we’ll feature you in next week’s blog!
And if you think that walking only benefits your body, here’s a few more reasons to take a walk this Wednesday:
- A good, long walk busts stress.
- When you lull your mind with repetitive motion, your mind will start firing with new ideas. Take this opportunity for problem solving or some up with a creative project!
- Flowers! You can stop and smell them.
- A long walk gives you plenty of chances to pat your neighbors’ dogs and smile at babies.
- Being able to walk is a blessing it itself. If you have legs, appreciate them.
- You can be your own best company.
- If you bring a friend, they can be your own best company, too.
- A walk in the park is an appointment with fun!
We’ll see you on the trails! Happy hunting!
